- Read as many books as you like
- Discuss your child’s favorite part or character
- Have your child draw a picture, and write their thoughts for him/her
Book Recipe Project
1 Cup of Plot: Tell briefly what the story was about, but don’t give away the ending.
2 Teaspoons of Character: Who are the main characters? Please describe them.
2 Tablespoons of Excitement: Pick an exciting part of the book and describe it. Try to find pick something that has the main character in it.
Mix thoroughly and bake. When cool, frost with special icing:
½ Cup Opinion: What did you like about the book? What didn’t you like?
1 Teaspoon Recommendation: Who do you think would enjoy this book? Why?
Finally, sprinkle on the following information:

- Problem: What was the main problem in the story?
- Events: Please name three things that happened in the book that were important to the story.
- Solution: In the end of the story, what was the solution to the problem?
- Extra! Extra!: Did you remember something else that you wanted to share?
